I will be conducting a pilot project in Trinidad, Bolivia to acquire training to carry out my doctoral research. I will work with Dr. José Capriles of the Demodrivers project to learn zooarchaeological techniques to analyze fish remains, which were excavated from two archaeological sites in Mojos, Islas Encantada and Curupau. Further, I will work with the Museo Ictícola del Beni to skeletonize an array of fish species to create a reference collection of modern taxa. Lastly, the analysis of fish remains from my study area will allow me to test the validity and feasibility of my proposed methods to identify seasonal changes in stable isotopes within fish bones.
