About:

The Department of Linguistics is presenting the 5th Symposium on Amazonian Languages. Starting at 9am on March 29 and 30. The Symposium on Amazonian Languages (SAL) emerged as an effort to bring together colleagues working with Amazonian indigenous communities and who are affiliated with different institutions, mainly throughout the US and Canada. This Symposium highlights especially collaborative research projects in the Amazon, the framework towards which linguistics as a field has been moving in the last decades. Starting in 2013, SAL has been organized four consecutive times by the Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley, this is the first time UNM will host SAL.
