Community Trip Focuses on Cuba at a Crossroads

April 21, 2015

The LAII announces a new program for community members to explore and learn about contemporary Cuba. In December 2015, LAII will partner with UNM Continuing Education to lead an island-wide program focused on exploring and discussing "Cuba at a Crossroads."

During this 10-day trip (December 4 -13) we'll explore Havana, Cienfuegos, and Trinidad-three cities designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites; visit national parks and reserves; meet with grassroots organizations working on conservation initiatives; learn about the current state of U.S./Cuba relations; and discuss agricultural strategies with tobacco farmers; all while learning about the history and daily life of Cuba.

For more information, download the Cuba at a Crossroads guide. For questions or comments, please contact either (I) Marie McGhee, Senior Program Manager, at mmcghee@unm.edu or (505) 277-6320 or (II) Amanda Wolfe, Associate Director for Programs, at akwolfe@unm.edu or (505) 277-7044.

An information session will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. in UNM Continuing Education, South Building, Room TBD.
