Ivette S. González is a PhD candidate in the Linguistics department at the University of New Mexico. Ivette’s dissertation investigates and describes the grammar of Pa Ipai, a critically endangered Yuman language spoken in Santa Catarina, Baja California, Mexico. While most previous research on Pa Ipai has focused on sound patterns, this study shifts attention to grammar and clause structure—examining complex co-reference marking, switch-reference, and pluractionality, among other typologically significant features. These findings fill critical gaps in Pa Ipai research and contribute to the broader understanding of Yuman languages within North American linguistic diversity.
