About:
The UNM Department of Spanish & Portuguese’ Resolanas Program and the Department of Music’ Music from the Americas Concert Series present Hispanic singer, musician, and scholar Tomás Lozano at UNM’s Keller Hall.
Lozano will showcase his vast knowledge and skillful interpretation of “romances,” a type of short literary composition, epic-lyrical in nature, which narrate a story by singing or reciting it. They emerged from oral storytelling and became popular in the 15th century, forming collections called romanceros. Wherever Spanish or Castilian was spoken, romances were sung, from Tierra del Fuego in South America to southern Colorado in the U.S., forming a predominant part of traditional Hispanic culture.
Free admission.
